2010 has finally arrived...Christmas is a memory and we survived the All-Nighter with minimal injuries. Snow Camp is a few weeks away...so now what?? What can we do to spur one another on?? Love one another the way He loves us. Sounds easy on the surface, but in practice, its very VERY hard. Some people just aren't the lovable kind. Especially the ones that seem to take pleasure in hurting us....but those are the ones that Christ wants us to love even more. In Matthew 5:46, Jesus says, "If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?" Now tax collectors were not very well liked people in those days...so being compared to one was not exactly a complement. Its not hard to love those who love us right back...in fact its very easy...and Jesus is not saying that there is anything wrong with this, He is just putting it the perspective of its impact to those around you and the service you give to God. Loving those who do not love you is much better in God's eyes. He said' "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven." God loved us first even when we didn't love Him back (1John 4:10), so Jesus is saying that we should imitate God's love to those around us. OK? OK. Start loving.....Now! NOW!! now. NOW!! No really...NOW!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving! PDF Print E-mail

An entire day devoted to eating food...what could be better? In addition to all that turkey and stuffing I hope you found time to remember what the true meaning of the holiday is --- giving thanks to God! Everything we have -- freedom, family, food, clothes, a house and even cell phones -- comes from God. So I hope you took time out of your holiday to thank God, and don't just thank Him on Thanksgiving, thank Him every day of the year.

"Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 5:19b-20)

Comfort Zone PDF Print E-mail

Thanks to all the kids that came out for this Wednesday's meeting. We had a lot of kids in those old couches! Well, I was blessed to have you there and pumped up to do some "sword-drilling" as I stepped out of my comfort zone to teach the lesson. This is not my area of expertise. Give me a guitar and some music in front of me and I could go for hours...but getting my thoughts off my notepad and out my mouth is an exercise in discomfort...but you know what...thats where God can use us the most. When we are comfortable, we're doing things in our own power and tend not to lean on God as much...but when we are our of our zone...that's when we are going to run to The Lord and say "HEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!" That was me last night... I think I got most of what I was trying to say across, but either way, the Lord helped me greatly and I learned a lot from studying the passages that I had to teach on. It helped me further that we had a tough week as a family and the message of suffering in 1 Peter 4 was a blessing to help us through it. God is awesome!!!
